ClassAction electrifies audience

Our Christmas production by ClassAction here at Godalming College was a spectacular celebration of talent alongside important messages about sustainability and the environment. "Earthquakes in London" is a big, expansive play about climate change, corporate corruption, fathers and children. It dealt with our disregard for our planet, tackling these vast themes by pursuing the fortunes of a single family.
The staging for ClassAction’s production of "Earthquakes in London" was in traverse and intimate; it felt almost immersive at times as the action unfolded all around STUDIO816. With thoughtful lighting and excellent sound effects, it genuinely felt as if we were in the shower/rain/womb with the cast. It was claustrophobic and hypnotic.

The work was epic in scale and overwhelming, but the play cleverly focuses on one single family. Bartlett has done a wonderful job of making the worldwide climate crisis feel tangible, and although the play is full of fun and brilliant pop music, it's also able stop us in our tracks with harsh truths. At one point we are told that the Earth can sustain 1 billion humans... And that there's currently six billion of us.
Bartlett's play was a brilliant choice for Godalming College students, as there are ample interesting roles for a large cast to perform. Every single one of this large company of actors was superb; it's always genuinely a privilege to witness their performances in STUDIO816.

The success of the Christmas production is a testament to the hard work of all students and staff involved. Thank you for your dedication to creative work here at Godalming College.
